About originality design

I’ve always wanted to be an artist…All of my life experiences thus far have led me to graphic design…

After gaining on the job training and doing the 9 to 5 thing I realized many things. First, I love design, I want to be excited about the work I do, the people I work with and the place I choose to live. I want to take on projects I feel are important and will make a difference in the community. I feel start-ups, small businesses and non-profits should have the opportunity to get high quality design as larger businesses do even though they might not have the budget. originality design takes pride in helping everyone, from a small green business to a local band trying to get recognized, expand and be more lucrative.

The concept of the name was born from the idea that all original thought, design and style come from an origin, a beginning. originality design can be that starting point that provides you with the original concept and design. Contact originality design regarding your upcoming project, a comment, question or just to say hi and we can talk design.

originality design was established August 2006

Travel

In June 2016 I decided I needed a change, I’ve been in Colorado for around 15 years, and not knowing where I wanted to go, I felt the best move was to travel!  I decided to take the show on the road, traveling and working in my vintage Scamp with my dog Mazzy, who passed in 2023.

The road and traveling has really inspired me and I put that into my work, and thanks to modern technology I’m always a call, text or email away! I love the travel life, its taken a few forms the last 10 years but happy to say I’ve stuck with it and will be celebrating 10 years traveling in 2026!

I had a blog about my travels, but last year I decided to channel that into a new project called Wandering Radio. It’s still a work in progress but learn all about it HERE.

Community

I’ve always been a big advocate for community. Support your community, be active in your community, keep your money in the community. When I lived in Boulder I did my best to embrace my community; visited local coffeeshops and brewpubs, volunteered my time and talent to local organizations and always used local vendors and printers when able.

Since I started traveling in 2016 my idea of community had to change. At first I felt disconnected, both personally and professionally, and also felt a little selfish. But as I began to see America and meet people of all walks of life my idea of community got both larger and smaller all at once!

I was now able to support many local communities, sometimes work with them, use the local vendors and gain a larger circle. All of a sudden my community was so vast but still felt small. I realized how many similar threads we all have regardless where we call home and even though I really didn’t have a particular community i called home I felt at home wherever i go.

Experience

I graduated From Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design in 2001. Since then I worked in the design world at a newspaper, magazine, marketing firm, and even a sign company. In 2006, I started originality design and began my freelancing journey. I have worked with startups, non-profits and national brands. I’m also a part owner in our family business, Tough Top Awnings, where I manage our brand, marketing, advertising and online store.
